1st time problem buying on line!!

Hi People-
I have a problem with a core charge not being paid.
On Sept 19, 2001 I bought a climate control unit (rebuilt) and a aux heater pump for my 85 300D from All European Auto Supply. I received the products in a timely manner and promptly returned the old climate control unit in order to get my $100. core charge refunded. Well, I never got credited the $100. I called about a month latter and they said they never got the unit back and that they would credit my card when they did. I called again yesterday and got the same story. I returned the unit by USPO and did not insure the package so I guess I'm out of luck due to my own foolishness. But I'm curious, has anyone had trouble with this company? Its the first time I have ever encountered this kind of problem.
Thanks.

I thought ups kept a record of all deliveries. I'm pretty sure you can have the packaged traced if you have your slip. I don't think insurance is a requirement for tracing parcels

I think USPO = USPS = United States Postal Service. They don't have package trace w/o insurance and/or delivery confirmation. UPS has package trace.

just for the record

Im sorry about the trouble you had...a hundred bucks is a lot to just flat out lose due to a mixup and no fault of your own!!!

I have purchased from All European Auto Supply many times over the past several years...they have always been top notch...i used them because i also had a 240 volvo...I would often place order for a number of Mercedes and Volvo parts in the same order, and they always got it right, prompt, etc.

Too bad they cant some how help you out...at a minimum cover their cost and refund the rest....they certainly dont get $100 for a bad cruise ECU, so why stick it to you for that much. And you certainly couldnt sell a bad ECU for a fraction of that, so what is your incentive to pull a fast one and not send it back for your refund???

I can see making an honest profit, and needing to cover costs...but they shouldnt make their money by withholding core charges, even when there is a mixup....very bad business practice.

Didn't the P.O. give a receipt

Greetings,

I don't think I'd have someone in my pocket for a hundred bucks. Didn't the Post Office give you a receipt of delivery when you dropped the package off? Generally any package they deliver has a number assigned to it, whether you choose insurance or not they guarantee delivery. Even a check stub made out to them would help. Sorry, I just wouldn't swallow the C-note and go on.
