Harbor Freight Floor Jack

Harbor freight had a sale circular in the Phoenix sunday paper with a 20% off any single item coupon.
I saw a bomber 3 ton Floor jack, originally 99.99 on sale for 69.99. Asked the clerk "can I use the 20% coupon on this?" "Sure, why not?"
Just in time for the christmas break shock job.
A hundred dollar jack for 56 bucks. Worth checking on if you've got a HF nearby.

Dang. That place has become my second home in the past few weeks. I recently bought a Floor jack and Motorcycle jack, I paid about $70 for that same jack on sale.

You can find those 20% off coupons in Motor Trend &/or Car & Driver mags, too. They are usually a couple of pages from the last page... I have five or so folded up in my wallet, ready for use any time I stop in a HF. I picked up one of their little aluminum "racing" jacks with the LED lights since it fits under my Jetta so well. Nice little jack for a reasonable sum. The lights sounded cheesy at first, but they sure are nice when you have to swap out a wheel at night and want to find a solid jacking point.

X2, that's why I bought it, along with several LED powered flashlights. I learned my lesson last year and painted the jack points iridescent green.

The few things I bought from them did't last through there first use. I sure would not trust my life on a floor jack or jack stands from them, be very careful. A tool falls under "you get what you pay for", again, be careful.

I have used them for years, And I will admit the quality is not the best. But I do not need a shop full of Snap-on either. Who can afford that, not me, So I buy HF tools. Never dropped a car with the jack from them, nor had a stand collapse. I buy high dollar tools when required.

I bought a floor jack a while back from Wally World. It is my favorite as it has the fast rise if no weight is on it. That said, cheap tools are usually inferior quality. That said, Craftsman used to be acceptable & I have 40 yr old wrenches. Unfortunately their new stuff is frequently throw away at a higher price.

I have a HF floor jack that works great. My only complaint it you cant lower it slowly... once you twist the handle it's coming down.

I had reservations about the jack stands at first. I got the 3 ton ones and I LOVE them. Not too much can go wrong with a solid hunk of steal. I have laid under all my cars with those HF jack stands.

There is a new Harbor Freight store coming just down the road from me- I can't wait, I used to have one just a few miles away, and have spent the last year over 80miles from one. I've spent more money there than I care to think about, and most of the stuff has held up decently. The only stuff I've been unhappy with are a pipe bender that seems to have oddball diameter dies, and I did have a grinder catch fire. But my jacks, jack stands, shop press, and half a dozen other heavily abused tools have lasted.

HF jacks are definitely not the best quality out there, but for the money a decent deal. Just be sure to ALWAYS use JACK STANDS. I've had ones blow their main seal and so have others, but you can always exchange them for another.

I bought one, lightweight aluminum, to take to the track... works fine for what I need (changing wheels/tires). For the shop/home I would use a more trusty, beefy, jack.

The above is absolute. Every year deaths and injuries are cused by Folks not using Jack Stands or Ramps.

My Father has a nice US made Floor Jack; it leaks. And, that is what happens to all Hydraulic stuff eventually; the lower quality stuff sooner.

Not a thing wrong with most stuff like this from Harbor Freight. As stated, there is a place in this world for cheaper tools when you aren't using them to make your living.
And, with the HF jack and jack stands, you really NEED to get the items below. Makes a huge difference on under car abrasions.....

Agreed, but I have not had that problem except with one tool where I went past the design limitations and it bent a bit.

Diesel & bmw,
Your comment about stands is so important. Jacks are for lifting, not supporting. The cheapest jack that lifts the load is fine. Just dont expect it to support the load while you or part of you is under it. We should always lower the car onto the stands and leave the jack there as a back up. If you dont have a stand and need to get under the car use a spare wheel or 2 as a stand, they are very stable in an emergency.

Speaking of HF jack coupons, does anyone have one that can be added here as an attachment? I went on their website and the jack coupons are not there.

Seriously, an area for coupons might not be a bad idea.
