Good idea. I collected some drain tube from a donor just for this purpose. Wanted to know the diameter so I would only have to make three trips to the hardware store and not ten. I have some drain tube at the shop so, I'll get some measurements the next time I'm there and post.

Is there such thing as a TD that doesn't leak??? I have a 79 Euro 300d that has a saggy headliner from leaking that I've been wanting to tear out anyway, so if needed I'll check the size of the drain on that one before I butcher my nice $50 wagon!! I have a pretty good assortment of fuel and vacuum line sizes in my garage and if I can just get to the end of the drain I'm sure I can make something fit. Thanks again for the help-Scott

Sunroof Drain

Scott,

Below are a couple of pictures of the drain as it approximately sits in the car. The hose is 3'9" in length, 1.8cm OD and 1.1cm ID (as best my eyes can read the ruler, where are those damn reading glasses ). I found a connector I am going to use to extend the tube further down the "D" pillar. It is about 1.5cm OD or 9/16" OD and fits in the tube snugly.

If you can see your drain tube, it extends about 2" or so down the first louvered opening in the D pillar. I would hold it steady with something while running a hose extension from the bottom louver and trying to fit it in the drain hose. Maybe some small amount of lubricant to help. Anyway, that's the plan. Good luck.

Let me know how it works for ya. It would also be cool to be able to blast out the drain line from the back with compressed air instead of snaking it from the sunroof. My poor wagon lives underneath an oak tree and gets lots of leaves in every nook and cranny! Thanks again-Scott
