Now we've got 6 weeks and 6 days to go.

Man oh man, we're gonna have a time!

Bring trunks if you want to take a dip in the lake, or some fishing gear if you want to fish. You don't need a license to fish in a state park. Maybe you'll get lucky and catch a nice catfish to fry up when you get home.

Of course the main draws will be this.

Give your car a good workout on the highway. Mmmm... smoothly repaved left lane...

Dig into good food

Meet good company

Maybe you'll get to meet R.Leo?

Hmm...I'll be driving the 79 300D from Athens, GA to College Station a couple of weeks before this GTG (yep, I'm moving the MB "fleet" to TX), and was planning on flying back June 3, but perhaps I can extend the trip a little.

Cool, Athens, GA. If winmutt doesn't decide to come, it sounds like you may be a contender for longest distance driven.

Still hoping to make it. (no pun)

I am still planning to be at the GTG, but the air conditioner has found a new operating mode. Intermittent! The compressor just shuts off after about 10 - 15 minutes. Time to dig out the books again because a many hundred mile trip in Texas in June without A/C does not sound like fun.

If I don't make it, everybody have fun!

My drive to TX got pushed forward by a week, so I won't be able to make it. Hopefully next time.

I'm definately going to try!! Just need to fix the A/C, replace the front suspension, do a little engine work, a little interior restoration and do a complete detail on the outside...

In six weeks...

Yikes...

At least I have something to focus on now!

The minimum to get it road worthy won't take much, and I'll be heading out of San Antonio...

Assuming I can still juggle prior commitments I may make it. If so I'll probably tow the 300SD to Houston and then drive from there. If I can con an extra driver then I'll drag the truck along with the trailer as an emergency vehicle.

Almost two weeks til the big day!

I need caravan leaders for the following departure points:
1. Fort Worth (Waxahachie)
2. Austin (Round Rock)
3. San Antonio (Schertz)

If you are interested in leading one of those caravans, contact me ASAP.

Ok, I need to start off a list of who'll be there. I'll start it off with two people I know will be there for sure. Everyone else add yourself and your departure point location.

RSVP

With Regrets, Ben and I won't be able to make this year's GTG. Ben is willing, but not quite "qualified". I'm going on a Mercedes adventure (a future thread is coming) this Friday and won't be home until Saturday night. I don't see how I can have Ben trip worthy by Next Friday.

One week til the big day!
This is for those of you who need a little encouragement to attend.

10 Good Reasons to come to the Fifth Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together

1. There's going to be BBQ there
2. You've never attended the Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together in the past
3. You've attended the Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together in the past and you already know how much fun it is
4. You need to get away from your other half and /or kids/family for the day
5. You need somewhere to take your other half and/or kids/family for the day
6. It's time to take your Mercedes-Benz on a good highway run and blow out the cobwebs
7. Get to meet and greet other Mercedes-Benz owners and fans
8. Enjoy the scenic Texas countryside
9. You might win an award if your car receives enough awards in the Show and Shine
10. This is one of the most anticipated Mercedes-Benz events in Texas. If you can't make it to any other Mercedes-Benz get together in the state of Texas, this one you just have to attend!

Austin Crowd

I'll be at my usual place, waiting on the side of the road in Milano. The Dell Diamond crowd should be through there sometime after 10:45...

No wagon this year, A/C crapped out and I don't have the SDL back together yet (almost!!!) so, I'll be in SWMBO's ride, Lilly, the Arctic Blue 300D. If she won't let me take Lilly, I'll just have to slum it in my F250.
