Injection pump interchangeable 3.5 turbo from 3litre turbo

I may need to change out my friends injection pump in his 93 350sd
.I was wondering ig the injection pump from a 3 liter sdl would work.both are turbo models with the 6cylinder diesel.

The symptons are low power and not able to get up to highway speed.have tried the exhaust loosen technique........didnt improve performance.
If we can swap it in,is thier anything I need to buy to adapt or put on to the engine.

I am going to check the return pressure valve too on the injection pump(if it has one, where is it?)

thankyou

I doubt it's the pump. But a 3l pump will work.

Bottle of diesel under the hood. Hook the pump up to it instead of the supply/return lines, go for a ride.

Do an "Advanced Search" for Rodbender

"603.971 3.5 liter diesel motor... rodbender."

"Diesel in a W140 body guarantee's a 3.5L engine. Only later crate replacement engines got the upgraded rods."

"I'd take a 140 with engine problems, just install a 603.961 with .970 turbo and head. "
ONLY solution (Besides "Crate" engine from Mercedes OR a OM606 graft).

The original 603.970 head was flawed, turbo smaller, keep the .971 head and turbo and swap the long-block.

You should list exactly what you have done so far. You may have overlooked something a member may help you with . As already pointed out it may be as simple as fuel starvation.
