I don't get it

My sister sent me this picture today.

What do they mean by "BIOD 123" when they're driving a w124

Maybe the plates used to be on a W123... thats my guess... they just kept them when they moved to a 124...

If they are stupid enough to put stickers on the paint work, anything is possible.

hey! ive got stickers on my paintwork! Of course, they are covering rust.

maybe they mean "easy as 123" or something. Although, after going to the trouble to get a personalized plate like that, I would not be surprised if they kept it just cause they already fought that battle.

That and a KPFK sticker on the other side. They are beyond hope I'm afraid. Whatever you do don't get in front of them. You never know when a flashback will come their way

we have quite a few biodieselers out here in berkeley. i believe i remember seeing that plate on an old blue 300td a few years ago though.

but then again, it could have just been a flashback.

I got a plate from the DMV a few years back that was 123XME. One of my buddy's girlfriend said "Wow I love your plate!" I said what? She said, "One two three, kiss me!"

Sometimes things just work out.

Actually it's the other way around with Vanity plates in California. They stay with the owner! If I sell a car with custom plates on it I have to sign a release just for the plates. Otherwise they stay with me. I still have to pay the yearly fee to retain them though. If I do not pay the fee the plate is put back into the pool and can be taken by someone else.

It means they had a W123, ruined it with veg oil and have now moved on to ruining an (even rarer) W124 diesel. I can't stand those sticker-plastering hippies. They think they are doing the earth a favor, when in fact they are not, and are just wrecking a nice car.

Sigh.

I am sure many of us have used a sticker to cover a blemish like rust. If I see a car with some stickers on it for sale, its time to run.
If its advertised as a WVO converted car, its time to run as well!!!

Can I ask why some people have a downer on WVO? How does it ruin a car? I mean I can go to a different section on this forum and get a totally different opinion...

By the way I'm still on normal diesel

The stickers cite biodiesel not WVO.... It's their car and they can do what they want with it.

Army,
WVO is not a substitute for regular diesel. Many think it is. There is plenty of information about the damage it does to motors. It will soon seize up rings & cause engine failure. There are continually people coming on here with problems with their motor, often it wont start, and in time you find out it has been running WVO. There are those who think by soaking the rings with any one of a number of things it will "fix" it. There have been tests done on diesel motors confirming that WVO does cause problems. Have a read of
http://www.ncat.org/special/oilseeds_innovations4.php
These people are in the biz of telling us how good it is & they had failure.
The WVO "Hippies" will tell you that we are "nay sayers" & it works. I have seen too many failed diesel motors from its use. A survey was done a while ago on here, no motors that had done high mileages (100k+) on WVO were found. In my experience about 20 ~30k is enough to kill a motor, some get much further if they are careful with oil selection, only drive under certain conditions & maximize the preheat of the WVO.
The best way to use WVO in a diesel is to convert it into bio-diesel first. We use WVO in our wood heaters at home here. It doesnt burn completely unless you stir the ash a lot. I have had some positive results running on waste atf, its a PITA to collect it, filter it etc so I dont bother. Some say it causes build up from the additives though.
If you plan on keeping your car for a long time best stay away from it (WVO).
If you have a car that you are happy to send to the junk yard in a year or so, then WVO may be for you.
