Question O-RING DIMENSIONS

I need to know the o-ring dimensions used on the "water separator" at the fuel filter for 2008 Mercedes E320 Bluetec .
I believe that the entire assemble is part number: W0133-1980639
Thanks.

That is as Westpac number not a Mercedes part number.

You’re in luck, I have a filter on the shelf about to put in my son’s car.

19.5 mm outer diameter
2.5 mm thickness

The reason for the question is because I have a diesel leakage on top of the filter and I found out that it is coming from that o-ring and I need a new one.
Thanks for your information

You may need to replace the whole vent/water sensor assembly. On both my 2008s they cracked and started leaking onto the top of the filter and I had to replace them both.

Also don't overlook the ends of the 2 rubber hoses on the fuel filter, again something I have had to replace on both my 2008s as they split at the ends from being installed/removed several times.

Just saying it may be more than the o-ring that is leaking.

I must have jinxed my 2008 E320 as I have not yet replaced the fuel hoses at the filter and now I need to...I did the hoses on the 2008 ML320 and thought I had done both 2008s. Went to change the filter on the E320 and now its inlet hose is weeping.

Here are the parts you will need if you end up doing this. Sorry for the crappy formatting, this forum software suxx:

All parts in the EPC - Engine group/07 Fuel Injection/110 Fuel Filter, Lines

Item Qty Needed Part Number Description
10 Qty 1 A 642 078 12 81 Fuel Hose, Feed Line from Connecting Point to Filter
20 Qty 2 A 004 997 20 90 Hose Clamp, to mount fuel lines 14.5-15.5 mm
30 Qty 2 A 006 997 18 90 Hose Clamp, to mount fuel lines 13-14.5 mm

Question

To change that special shaped fuel hose to the fuel filter I believe is necessary to disconnect the duct to the turbo. I tried to do that once and had to take apart many parts that finally I put all back in place and leave it running as it was. Later on I had to bring the car to a MB shop and since they took apart all connections t o the turbo they also replaced that hose.
As in Texas the weather now is terribly hot to work on the garage these next coming weeks will be cooler and then I will buy the parts now and get it done later on.
Thanks for the part list. It was very helpful.

Replaced the hoses yesterday.

Yes you do have to take the silver tube off from the turbo to get at the bracket.

Here's what needs to be removed:
Y-pipe
Belt cover (two bolts, pull up hard)
Take off the T20 bolt and the bracket holding the turbo outlet pipe and the muffler.
Loosen the bolts on the muffler enough that you can separate the joint between the muffler and the turbo outlet tube.
You can leave the hose attached at the bottom of the muffler, you just need to get it loose enough to break the joint at the turbo outlet tube. The o-ring at this joint is on the muffler neck and will stay in place when you separate the joint.
Remove the tall E10 bolt holding the turbo outlet tube and pull the tube off the turbo. Watch for the green o-ring, this one is not secured, so it will either fall out or get hung up in the pipe, and put it back on the outlet neck of the turbo.
Unhook the brake booster hose and move it back out of the way.
Remove the bracket above the HP pump, it has 2 bolts, one into the oil filter and the other into the engine. This gives you enough room to reach the clamp on the HP pump line with your Clic-R clamp pliers.

Be sure there is not a bunch of crud around the hose connections especially at the HP pump, that is filtered fuel and you sure don't want any dirt getting in there.

Remove lines, clean up the leaked fuel, and reinstall new lines.

When putting it back together I have found that it's easier to get the joint between the outlet tube and muffler together and put the clamp on before tightening the bolts holding the muffler to the engine.

Bolt torques: the fuel line bracket, belt cover, little bracket by the HP pump, 9 Nm
Muffler into the engine: 12 Nm

Question

Thanks so much, Jay.
Your instructions are very, very detail.
Instruction like that makes much easier to any one perform that specific job.
I have the hose in hand and as soon the time permit I will perform this task.
By the way, did you reuse those special hose clamps from MB or did you used other not OEM hose clamps?
I like more the OEM clamps but sometime, even with the special tool, that hose clamp tool is a little trick to reinstall specially in tight areas.
Thanks again.

I always use new OE hose clamps. The one at the HP pump is tricky but if you take the bracket off by the oil filter it gives you enough room.
