I'm trying to get the fuel economy of a 240 using a turbo 300d of course. Dropping 300lbs could help out some at 65mph. Having the manual transmission will help out because most automatics are slush boxes and rob power. Also, I would like the car to be a little more peppy. All the turbo mercedes I been behind have very crappy shifting patterns in my opinion. Maybe 30 years old doesn't help either. My thinking is a little bit more peppy turbo diesel with the stick...some weight saving would "feel" like you added hp/tq to the car.
Oh to everyones jokes....although hilarious...I said it could not take away from the appearance of the mercedes. That being said...seats have to stay etc.,etc.

Truthfully, the only thing that will significantly impact your fuel economy is the stick tranny. Lightening it will help economy around town where you are accelerating and decellerating and will help acceleration. If you lighten the car 400
# you will also want to shorten the springs because it will rise up due to the lack of weight on the springs.
