Air Filter Housing Vibration

I have a 1981 300SD which has a lot of vibration in the air cleaner housing. I remember seeing a post somewhere in the past that described placing one of the air cleaner shock mounts (with one attachment screw removed) on the outside of the air cleaner housing such that it pressed against the valve cover.

Does anyone remember this or has anyone tried this to lessen the vibration?

My shock mounts are new and the mounting frame is in good shape.

Some folks have wedged a chunk of rubber between it and the cam cover.

A company produces a kit involving drilling a hole in the side and bolting a piece of radiator hose there.

Somewhere in one of the threads there is a suggestion of putting a piece of Heater Hose Between The Air Filter Housing and the Intake Manifold. And, that is what I did.

After that I also cured most of the problems that were causing the shaking.

How do you orient the radiator hose? Is it parallel to the engine axis, front to back? Is it really a piece of radiator hose or is it heater hose?

Finally, does anyone know of the company that toomany MBZ references?

I slit a 2" long piece of heater hose and placed it between the filter housing and the accelerator linkage bracket. Used one bracket bolts to hold the hose in place.

I left the two mount closer to the manifold and replaced the one close to the fender with a Poly suspension mount, cut it the same lenght as the mount and used a SS bolt/nut through the air cleaner. I also elongated the holes to shift the cleaner away from the valve cover.

I used a piece of the rubber gasket inside the turbo U tube. It slips in tight under the throttle linkage bracket and stays in place.

See pic, you can make your own.

In this thread, post #7: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=252182 is a pic of a muffler hanger used as a wedge.
