Right vs. Left Motor Mount

I have three 617 turbo engines in my family's fleet. Invariably, when I have to replace the motor mounts, the right one is the more worn - usually collapsed so the engine support arm makes contact with the metal shell of the motor mount. I keep the engines clean so there is no oil deterioration of the mounts - they just gradually compress over time.

I have always used 123 241 13 30 for both mounts. That's the number that is shown on most web sites as the correct part number for both mounts.

Today, I looked into the MB Factory service manual for the OM617 Engine. It shows a 123 241 27 30 (one blue dot) for the right mount and 123 241 40 13 (two blue dots) for the left mount.

Does anyone know the difference between these two motor mounts? Since I have been having trouble with the right motor mount, should I use a 123 241 27 13 in that application?

It could also be helpful to know what companies Motor Mounts you have used in the past.

On your Vehicles have the Transmission Mounts also been replaced?
Do you feel your Engine, even with new Mounts shakes too much?

With new mounts, the engine does not shake too much (it is a Diesel, though). Here are the mounts I've used:

Mercedes (from the dealer) never a problem, but they cost $99 each now
Lemfoerder - comparable to the Mercedes (I now have a pair of these in one car)
Meyle - Didn't last long, fewer than 10,000 miles before collapsing
Uro - Only lasted 2,000 miles before they were collapsed.

I typically change the rear transmission mount on every second motor mount change. (I do inspect it everytime)

Back to the original question: should I be using a 123 241 27 13 for the right mount?

the right mount is loaded in forward gears the left in reverse so it makes sense it would have different properties than the left.

I looked a few part places and they sell only one mout for both sides.

Slighty off subject but has anyone ever used Generic Engine Mounts like folks use on race cars or when they used to swap different makes of Engines into a Car?

How about those guys that put the 617s into Jeeps?
