So I decided to start my own post to try and get to the bottom of why my 1981 240D won't shut off. It will not shut off with the key or with the engine stop lever. I recently had to replace the ignition/key assembly do to the key not turning and am wondering if I got the lines on the back of the switched swapped....

The vacuum systems on these cars are totally new to me...I am going to invest in a mighty vac soon but need someone to point me in the right direction.

If I suck on the line going to the shut-off switch on the IP the car will shut off....

Suggestions???
