Trunk leak question

On my 85 300D there is a small hole a few inches from the trunk hinge on both sides. When it rains really hard water drips out of the holes. My question is where is the water coming from? The only things that I could think of are the sunroof or the rear window seal. Any help would be much appreciated

Most likely your rear window seal is leaking. there should be no water leaking into the trunk, when it is raining, feel back under the shelf area to see if there are other wet areas. where it is dripping is probably not where the leak is. leaking and running along and dripping there at the low point.

If it is the original window seal, might be a good time to replace it. don`t be surprised if you don`t find rust starting under the seal. my 85 is a calif car, and I had rust there also.

the sun roof drains, are behind the lower edge of the drip rail, (rain gutter). there is a vent behind the molding, and that is where the SR tubes drain.

the pinch weld is where the rust starts along the lower edge.

How about a photo of where the sun roof drains are in relation to the gutter. Also, the drain tubes exiting in the rear wheel wells are connected to ... where?

I discovered my fuel overfill drain line was not connected and allowing excess diesel and water to accumulate in my passenger trunk well. Fixed and found a few more concerns...

Thanks
