girlfriend thinks im obsessive

am i obsessive about working on my car if after working all day i want to go and finish more work on my car ,even if its dark and cold outside?.is it obsessive to be constantly checking forum and reading more material about repair, looking at cl for cars, ordering parts and talking about mechanical matters?.i mean im not on a porn site, though sometimes the way members speak about their cars does have some similarity to admiring a women.this is a good healthy hobby, look at all the money im saving by not having a regular mechanic do the work on my old car .so what if i want to resurrect another diesel, arent i helping recyle precious materials?come on having hobbies is health -isnt it?

only 3 Mercedes?
talk to me when you are in double digits of cars, and have broken 5000 posts.

Because for people like you (and practically everyone here), working on the car is NOT work.

To me- cooking, gardening, and shopping are all WORK.

buy her a benz - like a nice coupe or something - and your gf will think differently of your obsession.

Well remind your Girl Friend that She always knows where you are and that "Idle Hands (and I guess an idle mind) Are Tools Of The Devil".

Remind here of some of the other Male behaviors like substance abuse, womanizing, not coming home for several days, shoving a good portions of your income down G-strings at Strip Clubs, gambling and spending all of your free time with the "Boys" who would encourage you to do the aforementioned stuff.

Perhaps you are but it sounds like chicken soup. To clarify, I asked my neighbor John Henry if I could borrow his ax to which he replied "No".

I then asked why not & promised to take good care of the ax. He replied that the reason is because his wife is cooking chicken soup.

Next I queried what wife cooking chicken soup had to do with borrowing his ax.

His answer: "Nothing really, but when you don't want to do something, one excuse is as good as another."

Perhaps he should run for office. Congress uses the same reasoning.

I have read in a Psychology Book that in general Men tend to be more obsessive than Women.

I can remember when I worked with all Men the things they spoke of first was Sports followed by their Job, Cars if they were the types that worked on their Cars and 4th their Family/relationship.

When I worked in a Hospital and was around mostly Women the primary subject was their Family or other relationship, followed by a combination of Beauty aids and Apparel.

Notice that there is not much in common between the 2 groups.

Has he ever borrowed anything from you? Would you lend him anything after this incident?

An obsession is merely a hobby viewed from the perspective of someone that doesn't share the interest.
There are many unproductive "hobbies" mentioned above. Yours is productive so quit worrying about it. As long as you're not abusive to or neglectful of her because of your hobby she has nothing to complain about. Eventually she will get used to it or move on. In reality your intuitiveness and attention to detail are probably part of what attracts her to you in the first place.

Why isn't garbage like this moved to OD? Are the moderators asleep? BC wouldn't put up with a post like this, the OP.
