Differential is in the only thing in the rear end that could leak anything. But rather than take someones word for it, I would get under there and inspect yourself. The gear oil in your diff has a very distinct smell and there's nothing else on the car that uses it. I've always thought it smelled like cat piss, and some will agree.

It is my experience that it is usually the input shaft seal that leaks. Pretty straightforward to change it out.

If the car is a diesel it could possibly be the supply/return hoses at the fuel tank pick up. As already stated, you should be able to tell a difference between the rear end fluid and diesel fuel.

SLS... plus there's fuel and brake lines.

Look for the oil spot, wherever you park. Could narrow down where it's coming from.

rear end has, differential, two axles, and a fuel tank that could be leaking not to mention the brake calipers...
you can lift the side of the car with the factory jack, and shove the spare under the frame for a support/saftey IF YOU SECURELY CHOCK THE FRONT WHEELS!!!!!
should be plenty to at least get a good look under there to see where the leak is originating.
it's also possible that engine oil is collecting on the cover pans, and dripping out the back due to air flow under the car while driving...

thats the thing, there's no oil drips anywhere, SLS fluid is at the same level it has always been at... though this is the same place that told me my front crank seal is leaking and it was replaced just a month ago..

As already stated if it is the wagon you are talking about it may be hydraulic fluid from the self leveling system.

If the Rear CV Axles are filled with Oil on your model the could also leak.

It might be time to find something to Jack Your Car up with. A set of Jack Stands will not take up much space when not in use.

Shops teach their Mechanics to look for more work everytime a Vehicle come into the shop. This is one of the reasons some shops offer free inspections.

If you were told that your "rear end is leaking" it means the differential.

The input shaft is the most common, not a quick nor easy fix. If it's a small leak then just watch the level, it'll probably never drip when parked.

I'll take a look at it in the morning. most likely I'll fix it, cross it off the list. there's only like 5 things on there now.. which is nice.
