SEats

When I first got my 190D (1984, 2.2L, 5-spd), I was hit in the driver's door within the first month. While I had it at the body shop/mechanic's, I had him pull the seat cover off the driver's seat, re-tie the springs down, and rebuilt with firm foam. It was much better after that, but I had a decent seat cover to start with. Prior to the rebuild, I felt like I needed a couch-cushion under my rump in order to see over the dash . . . LOL.

I would look for the best driver's seat of the same color, and consider having an upholstery shop take off the seat cover and repack with new foam. Unfortunately, by the time a lot of these cars make it to a junkyard, there are a couple hundred thousand miles of someone else's butt mashed down on the original foam, which will feel as fun as wearing someone else's worn out shoes.

You may be able to do the repacking yourself, also, for the cost of the foam.

Good luck.

What year/model/engine is yours? 5-spd???

A pool noodle is a floatey device for kids ,walmart has them for $2. ,toy depart.,cut it up and place it in between were the broken spring has given way ,you can pull the seat in about 10 minutes are less. After all bolts are removed( 8 or 10 mm with a small extension),.... To take the seat out,the guide safety bar is the next step, pick up the seat and pull it forwards, this brings the seat off that bar and can then be removed out of the car.Once you have it out ,turn the seat upside down and youll see how this fix works. No need to replace the seat ,this is all you need to get that seat back into shape. Search this fix here and their is a pictorial on a DIY link.

My experience with a good re-upholstery shop (recommended by the dealership) was terrible. They found and fixed a broken spring and added padding. but it sat me up too high (I'm tall), and was much flatter - not bucketed. Anyway, I hit the yards and found an late model 124 gasser with newer style seats (leather not mb-tex) that fit the bolt pattern for my '87 124TD. The passenger's seat chassis was identical and it was a plug-and-play swap. The driver's chassis was different. I swapped the seat chassis, putting the new seat onto my old seat chassis and found the right fits. Now I have MB's new seat design technology, with 8 fewer years of butt crushing - very comfortable and supportive - and a pleasure on long drives. While you're at it - and if it's a nice interior, consider the seatbelt columns (easy to R&R with the seat out), console upgrades... Heck, grab the overhead light, visor's, clips, ... If you go this route, you may want to search my posts - I'm pretty sure I posted pics and some tips on the chassis swap. Good luck.

When the springs are broken it doesn`t make much sense to pack foam under the seat to patch them back into shape. Just as easy to find a good seat from the JY. I have used a pass side spring box for the drivers side. they are both the same. just have to swap the seat tracks.

Today I came across a 92 190E, 183,034K in one of our many PNP`s. the interior is almost perfect. It is a light ivory/creame color MB Tex.
VIN# WDBDA29D8NF896678 run this and get the MB name for this color.
this is in the San Jose PNP on commercial.

At the Mowery yard in Fremont off I-880, there is a 90 300TD milage UKN. has nice grey seats front and back. little greasy/dirty from being in the yard, but should clean up nice.

A 85 190D, drivers seat has a spot on the bolster starting to rip, but does have a nice dark blue pass seat, Has the engine, but no transmission.

I am looking for the tan interior.
I figured all the 190 seats are interchangeable, but is there any other models that will fit?
