1985 300D interior

Hey guys, I'm sure one of you can answer this. Recently bought a 85 300d with blue interior (according to MB classic center - "152 A, MB-Tex Galaxy Blue" along with code 491 "US version").

But everything I've read and researched describes the seats as leather, tex, cloth, or velour. Mine appears to have velour in the center with either leather or tex on the outer portions. Same for the rear. Is my interior some sort of post-factory modification, and if not what is it? Attempting to attach pics below..

Thanks,
Spencer

I've never seen seats like that before. My guess (that's all it is) is that they were redone at some point.

I also believe this was done aftermarket. I have collected several brochures and never seen this combination. The velour seats I have seen are all velour.

X2

They don't look quite right to me - a little bit too saggy.

I figured any sag would be due to wear. Maybe not. Nothing besides the velour/tex combo seems different from any other 123 I've seen. The spring setup beneath is identical (I've repaired the driver springs).

Now that I've looked closer, I see that there is a little bit more contour to the seat bottom than the MB oem. Guess I'm stuck with what I've got unless I want to redo everything.

For you people with the blue interior, does the tex/leather look the same color? I figure I could at least get a new armrest, mine's in rough shape.

Parts look like the normal galaxy blue tex, as far as coloring goes.

I think you are right - they are still seats - they still perform their primary purpose.

If you are really worried about them I'd keep a look out for another set - you have time on your side to make sure you get a really good price... you could even put a WTB ad on this forum and see if anyone's got a cheap set going.
