If you have replaced the tranny with a used one, what do you do - no way to get the VIN for the replacement transmission. Assume there is a stock number on the replacement tranny case that can be used?

Phil must have the VIN# and/or transmission# to order the correct parts.

It is more difficult, and may require cleaning to find the transmission number stamped on the case.

For a 722.1 => 722.118 you'll find the number on the right hand side of the gearbox (when fitted in the vehicle)

You can just make it out in this picture stamped along the edge of the casing just above the valve body.
