Hello Jon How are you? Peter from connecticut..I wanted to get your opinion on a an engine problem I have an 02 chevy impala with 72000 miles and my mechanic is telling me that there in no compression in cylinder #6.. He wants to junk the engine and replace with used. I don't know what to do..What might be causing this to happen??? Mechanic does not want to open the engine and see what might be causing the problem??? Telling me its not worth it to fix...The main question is ...to fix or not to fix???

it's the 3.4l v6
I told him at a minimum i'd pull the even bank valve cover, and look and see if the rockers are moving.
could be simple dead lifter...
