W115 service manuals

As I embark on my W115 300D restoration/rebuild adventure, I realized, once again, that there is a dearth of dedicated service manuals for the W115 Series. For example, there is no Haynes W115 manual. Over the years I have picked up several manuals that cover a wide variety of models, and include some coverage of the W115. I have two by Chilton's, one by Clymer, and I use parts of the Haynes W123 Manual. I also found a 114/115 Service Manual Library on CD.

I have posted all of those on my blog, but I am interested in compiling a complete reference list of resources, either paper copies or online manuals, that other W115 owners would find useful for their projects.

Please post any reference materials, I.e., books, CDs, online websites, that you use or know of that would be helpful to our fellow W115 owners. It doesn't have to be limited to Mercedes-specific books, btw. Some folks may have a good diesel injection manual, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, Diesel911! I have added that link to the list in my blog, with credit given for your contribution. I have already had a number of hits from around the world searching for that exact info, so I am sure it will be much appreciated! I have also added a link to this forum. Thanks again!

It isn't quite what you want (I'm dialing one number higher!) but there might be some cross over bits:-

That's fine. Info specific to the W115 can be difficult to find, especially, for example, info on wiring and vacuum diagrams. On occasion, I have used info from other Mercedes vehicles to determine patterns of design, etc., that I have been able to then apply to my car to solve a problem.

It's all good! Thank you, Army!

Great suggestion! Thanks, Army. I will include a listing of online resources, like this forum and the stroke8.org. , as well as any other suggestions. I personally like having hard copies of reference materials, but, I suppose that is soooooo 20th Century, and I should learn to get over it!

Forums like this, and many others, are a great source of info... especially when you get stuck on a project!

Ha I'm a bit 18th century most of the time - but I did buy a printer and scanner all in one thing that is often running red hot making hard copies for me to then smudge and spill oil all over...

...these new fangled electricery based machines do have some advantages...

Yes, I find paper copies of reference materials are also much better at absorbing those occasional spills than keyboards are!

Ask me how I know!!

Over the years I bought many original MB service manuals for my various cars, I believe that I still have the original MB manuals for my first MB diesel, 220D 72, they came in blue covers and in first rate reproductions, do not know if this covers both 4 and 5 cylinder models, will check it tonight.

Mercedes Turbo diesel engine rebuild DVD

I came across this tonight... 4 hour DVD rebuilding the OM617 turbo diesel. $79.98.

No affiliation.

http://www.benzproducts.com/benzproducts_main_page_002.htm

This is a sample video from the DVD:
http://www.benzproducts.com/benzproducts_main_page_007.htm

It is not specific to the W115, but we can add it to the list of resources of reference materials. It may be helpful to someone.

A bit pricey..... Has anyone used it?

Has anyone tried contacting the Mercedes Classic Center in California about a printed W115 manual? Like others here, I would like to have a book to reference about my 300D, especially when it comes to interior disassembly...

I can give them a call this week for more information.
