PS they had to use CG to augment the smoke. Pretty ****ty for BMW. I could rig a diesel to smoke 2x as bad

They never talk about the emissions from replacing a car every 5 years. Building one zero emissions car has to have a greater environmental impact than driving a 123 daily for 5 years.

That might have been my old Volvo, except it wasn't silver.

A Lincoln with a BMW turbodiesel - cool! Don't think I ever saw one of those, but I remember seeing some Cadillac Seville diesels, and back in grade school, I had several neighbors with Oldsmobile 5.7 diesels. Those engines sounded like garbage trucks; one neighbor couldn't ever get his started below 25 degrees and the other gave up & converted to a gas V8. I think those early GM diesels contributed greatly to the reason diesel cars in general got such a long-lasting bad rap in the U.S.

On the other hand, I've regularly seen a BMW X5 and numerous Mercedes ML & GL BlueTecs driving around near where I work, and they sound, smell & behave almost exactly like their petrol-powered equivalents. All the fun aspects of having a diesel - like smoking out people behind you, trying to pass on hills, and wondering if your car will start in cold weather - are gone.

My 300D smokes a bit on cold start but clears up nicely once warm. New glowplugs are in the workz.

With a cloud of smoke and a hearty hiegh o' silver... Away!
