Brake Pads

Looking at Fastlane I see a half dozen choices for pads for my 124. What are some of you using, any suggestions? I see them at Autozone for $18 (front) but of unknown quality plus this forum has helped me so much I can't bring myself to shop elsewhere.

The problem with the typical pads are the significant amount of dust produced. On the 124 and second gen 126, the 15 hole wheels tend to look like crap after just a 100 miles or so.

So, you're relegated to very frequent cleanings if you wish the vehicle to maintain decent looks.

Or, you can pay a bit more and get the Akebono pads which don't exhibit the dust generated from the Textars or the PBR pads.

Brian - if you use the ceramic pads, do they wear out your rotors a lot more than the others - excessively?

Haven't had them on the SD long enough to evaluate.

However, I rarely use the brakes and typically go 50K on pads.

Only DB's fail to recognize that a red light looms ahead.

x2 on Akebono pads. Maybe Pelican carries them if FastLane doesn't.

I use the PBR ceramic/organic pads...no dust, work great....seem to last forever. Have had them on my SD for 35k with very little wear so far....rotors are doing good also.
