Why did hitting a deer make my reserve light work?

Friggin' reserve light has NEVER been on. Now it's on all the time... Fuel gauge seems to work.

The benz works in mysterious ways...

the fuel sender is a simple device. likely it was dirty, and the jarring cleared some gunk...

Should I plow into a deer in reverse to make it go out?

... uh, that might work, but I'd pull the wires going to the sender myself...

Keeping a deer in reserve

My '96 E300D's reserve light works only when the tank is full. My wife hit a deer but that didn't help. Very strange.

You did well on that one. You should see the front of my friend's Jag after she clipped Bambi at 70 mph last week.

I was slowing down when he jumped so I was probably going 45-50. This was on I-75, South of Macon. Bad juju... I dropped a valve on a VW near there once before. There have been some balancer abnormalities in that area as well...

Friggin' light cracked my grill like a softball No sheet metal damage though

I'm seriously considering a bumper guard.

I wouldn't. Anything that increases the chance of a 500-lb+ animal being thrown up over the hood and toward the windshield isn't a good idea.

WOW! You have very large deer in Quebec!

SD80,
Someday, someone will make a deer alert that makes a huffing sound, similar to the sound they make to each other to sound the alert.

The deer up there have water and food...
If you want to make minor adjustments to your car come to Texas to hit a dear....we have puny deer compared to the North....40-80 lbs often..
