Auxiliary Fan Switch Installation Question
I have to replace my auxiliary fan switch (located on side of the peep hole on top of the receiver dryer). Obviously this appears to be a screw-in no brainer but I wanted to make sure refrigerant would not be released while doing so. Or perhaps I could somehow depressurize the system costing $$$!!! 1988 190D. Thanks!

If you have refrigerant in the system, you won't when you remove the temp switch.

1.You're gonna have to have the Refrigerant Removed
and stored.
1a.Install your Switch. 2.replace the Receiver dryer. 3.then recharge.

Unfortunately I have to agree. If you have the tools, expertise, and license to do it yourself it's not a difficult job. If you have to pay someone to do it you may want to temporarily (until the system has to be evacuated for something else) wire around the problem so the aux fan comes on in low speed whenever the a/c compressor is energized. Depending on where you live, you may not need the a/c for the next 6 months anyway.
