Curse Control Operation

Ok So now I have a mystery on my hands. The lettering on the CC switch is worn off and after re-connection the CC under the hood I have mystery speed control. The car will accelerate to a set speed. I've tried the CC stalk in both positions and it does not disable the system. How do you enable/disable CC from the stalk.

Push forward to disable, pull back to resume previous set speed. Up or down will set it. Up (after setting) will accelerate, down will decelerate.

Well, this is how it works in my w126 anyway.

I'll try and pull it forward. I though it was pulled forward but I was not sure what to do since all the graphics are worn off. I'll have to see if I can find the owners manual. That might help as well.

thanks

Usually I dont point out spelling errors in posts/threads but I have to say "curse control" seems to be an adequate nickname for the systems in our Mbs! Thanks for the laugh and good luck!

X2

I didnt know having auto pilot in our cars could help when you have been wrenching all day & cant get that last ********** nut undone !!

Has to be one of the best spelling errors on here in a while.

Maybe the OP has designed a device that dispenses beer or you favorite other drink by the push of a button.
Pushing the button the wrong way gives you lolly water instead of the real stuff !!

Note that he said PUSH forward (toward the dash) to disable, not PULL it toward you. Pulling the level toward you engages the "Resume" mode. Pushing it towards the dash disengages it.

At least that's how it is on my 87 300D...

Engage cruise by pushing the stalk UP equivalent to indicating a right turn with the indicator stalk. Car will hold the speed at which it is set. Push stalk away from you towards dash to disconnect cruise control. Pull stalk towards you away from dash to resume previously set speed. When car is at a set speed using cruise another upwards push like a right hand turn indication will increase speed till you release at which point it will continue at the new higher speed. Pushing down on the stalk such as the equivalent of a left hand turn on the indicator column will reduce the speed of the vehicle until released when it will continued at a the new slower speed. And of course tapping the breaks will disengage the cruise control when in use.
