VNT turbo upgrade or Regear

I have read a lot about the OM617 turbo swaps into a Jeep and I have purchased a 1984 OM617 turbo for only 400.00. Only has 198k miles. My Jeep currently has 3.73 gears so @70 that gives me 2186 RPM w/ 32"tires. Here's my question: Should I regear or install a VNT turbo setup? If I regear should I shoot for 2500 RPM @ 70 (4.27), or more around 2700RPM (4.56) for best MPG. Re-gearing is a pain in the rear. It would be nice to deal with the VNT turbo upgrade. I hate the smell of diff fluid and it gets me in the dog house for months, as the smell of diff fluid lingers in the garage. I have read that installing the VNT turbo setup shifts the peak torque to a lower RPM around 1800 - 2000, which would be perfect for my current setup. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks
