Rear foglight, as opposed to 2 back-up lights. My 280TE had the same.

This is a *nice* car that really needs to go to an enthusiast. I wish I had a good excuse to buy it right now, but windows and siding are unfortunate priorities.

Now.. I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit those heated front seats.....

Im not sure...

I odnt know a lot about these cars, but based upon the hubcaps and fact that there is a full size clock, not a tachometer, does anyone think this car is perhaps really an older model? I dont know the slight variations too well, but like to learn...

Is that airbag real? I can't imagine MB fitted an airbag to a W123 and not ABS. I don't doubt that's an airbag steering wheel, but I wonder if the proper triggering devices are in place.

Anyone else have a W123 with airbag?

I have some euro brochures, and this car is correct with the exception of the headlights and speedometer, which have been changed to meet federal regulations.

The hubcaps were the standard issue on euro models, and the tach was an option. One way to tell that the gauges are of the right vintage is that they do not have the chrome circles in the center like earlier cars, they have the black ones. Another way to tell is the later style HVAC system (complete with German descriptions below the buttons(!)).

The Airbag is real and was available from +/- 1981 on 123 models. I can't tell from what I have if they made the Airbag available without ABS. Can we say for sure that this car doesn't have ABS? That was also available on 123s of the same approximate vintage, but I don't see an ABS module in the picture, not that I know what it looks like on those cars..

One thing I'm curious about is where the breather hose from the valve cover goes on this car, and why not to the top of the air cleaner as on US-spec cars? What difference does that make (if any) to performance?

Somebody buy this gem!

I guess I'm wrong. There should be an airbag option code on the tag above the radiator.

Looks like a great car. My guess is no ABS because it would likely be mounted in area near the brake servo and there's obviously room for it there. One difference vs US is the rear seat back is not split so you can't fold down just part of it like our cars. That's an odd thing to leave out but maybe it's an option as well.

I bought it.

It was too nice not to, and after speaking with the seller, I feel very good about it. Besides, I just happen to be going to Florida next week on vacation.

Anybody want to buy a 2001 Saab 9-5 Wagon?

Nor a twin anywhere.
That's low mileage. And unique!
Better get used to the colour, as that car is going to be around for a very long time.
Congrats, Reed, on a great buy.

Thanks, guys. I'm pretty excited. Truth be told, I like the color, not only because it's very *period* but also is the same color as an Audi Fox wagon we once had..

Now. Who knows where I can get 2 palomino leather headrests and euro headlights with the vacuum modules?

Congrads

Congrads friend and welcome to the 300TD wagon owners club.

I hope it serves you well and I'd like to see a followup when you pick it up.

Tony
