How to clean the engine bay?
When I changed my oil in my 83 300D, I forgot to tighten down the oil filter canister so there is dark oil everywhere, arrrggghhh! I want it back to where it was before this mishap. I have a power washer but don't want the mess up the vacumm or injectors. Should I use it?

Search for this. It's been discussed to death.
Personally, I spray mine with some Simple Green then drive it just outside my neighborhood to the power wash bay. That's just enough time to warm it up and loosen the grease. Then just make sure to get it all cleaned off, Simple Green on aluminum for any substantial amount of time can be corrosive. Make sure to bring a set of ramps so you can drive the car up & get clearance. Any wear your worst work clothes...

I use the steam cleaner where I use to work. never had any problems, been doing this for over 40 years. now a gas engine can give you some starting problems with the distributor, spark plug wires etc...
You don`t want to hold the pressure washer on the IP, whether hot or cold water. the extreme temp change can cause internal problems with the close tolerances they have. a quick swip across the pump won`t hurt anything. If you have some rain gear, that will keep the crap off you, and wear SAFETY GLASSES. the water and debris can come flying back towards you. Charlie Charlie
