722.418 transmission swappability
I need to do a tranny swap on my 1992 300D 602.962 722.418 and I'm trying to find other cars that have the same tranny.
My reverse gear has gone out, and rather than fix the B3 reverse piston and have my car down while I do it, I figure I'll get a tranny at the junkyard with 100k less miles on it than mine and swap it out. But how exactly does the part number have to match? Can I get any 722.4XX or does it have to be the 722.418? What about a 722.3XX since they're supposed to be stronger... I've never done any real tranny work before. What's a guesstimate on hours for swapping a tranny for a shadetree? thanks, Paul
