Stripping gray market parts car. Advice?

I'm taking parts off of a 1980 naturally aspirated wagon (grey market, I think, but the bumpers are the same), to be used on my 1982 Turbodiesel wagon.

I'm grabbing and saving the seats and a bunch of other random bits and bobs from the interior, as well as the hydraulic suspension system which is in excellent shape. The body is rusted to pieces, but the engine and suspension are in good shape. What should I take? Can I take the injectors, fuel pump and other things from the naturally aspirated engine and use them my turbo? The oil cooler and radiator? I haven't found much out there to contrast and compare the parts differences between these two cars. I know that the rear differential is different, as is the radiator, but I'm really hoping that the power steering pump, alternator, water pump, and hydraulic pump are all compatible.

Oh and if everyone anyone wants a 3L naturally aspirated engine with only 30,000 miles on it, let me know I have one sale.

Any input would be most appreciated. I'll be wrenching on all day tomorrow while I still have access to a lift before scrapping the car. Before anybody tries to convince me otherwise, you can put your foot through the floorboards pretty much everywhere, but there is still plenty worth saving.

Thanks!

I'd take air to it and strip everything that is good and store in boxes. You can never have too many parts. They come apart fast with air.

Get the head off the engine. Heads with the SLS pump mount are rare.

How are the hatch struts? pull those also and maybe the rear glass, and the side glass that is wagon specific.

The front sway bar (if good) is 2mm larger than the sedan, these are sought after.

Be sure to pull the blower motor, door regulators and motors, door checks.

getting the manual climate control if the car has A/C is good... and if the compressor is a sanden... keep the entire a/c system.

Awesome. I had no idea that the head was such a good find. The engine was rebuilt about 30k ago, it's the most beautiful thing. Unfortunately I have no where to store it...

I'm just going to take everything that isn't rusted to ****.

Thoughts on injector compatibility with a turbo 3L engine?

There's a woman on here near Boston I think with a wagon and a busted engine. She's looking for a replacement. Can't remember if she needs a turbo engine or not. Anyone remember her user name? May work for her.

Do yall think this stuff is something anyone is actually going to pay enough fo to make it worth the trouble?

I would explain differently but my arm is cramped by boxes of parts-- I have to throw them in the garbage so I can move about the house again like before I started parting out old mercedes.
In case it hasn't dawn on you the old diesel benz crowd actually breaks out in hyves at the thought of opening their wallet and spending when they absolutely dont have to- with very few exceptions.
The only crowd that is worse is old VW diesel skinflints.

Scrap prices are pretty high right now so whatever you don't save is still worth $.

I got $30 for the bent aluminum hood off my SD because I knew that it was aluminum and scrap price was high.

I have boxes of parts for my 78 Datsun 280Z. It is really handy to be able to grab a drive train or piece of trim if you need it. Like I said, air or some other automatic unbolter makes things go fast. Anything you don't want can be sold for scrap.

Simply put things from the same area in boxes ie engine compartment, climate control etc. Regarding the engine, someone close will have storage. Perhaps swap engine for labor. Recent rebuild should be saved.

10 years ago I could find Zcar parts easily. Not as plentiful now. The same thing will happen here. I'm planning on driving these cars for a long time and am going to get a stock pile started.

I've got all almost everything worth saving, but I'm struggling with removing the rear hydraulic shocks and acumilators. I don't care of the rest of the car is destroyed, is there a quick and easy way to free up those rear shocks? There are also some strange bolts that are holding the front shocks to the lower control arm. Can't find a way to get a wrench on them, and they don't look like anything that I've ever seen before, theyre not nornal bolts like everywhere else (with 6 sides), instead they've got lots of little ridges, totaling around 32 different 'sides.' This is so far the first and only place that I've seen them. How do I get those buggers off?
