This is an excellent idea. I love driving places and try to get out on trips. I would gladly bring some parts along with me. iwock and I did this some years back for a forum member. I can't remember what the part was, I think it was a bumber. we put it in my toyota and made a stop on our way to LA and met him for some coffee. It was a nice break from the road.

As charmalu knows I live mear a pretty good cluster of junkyards. not only pick-n-pull/u-pull-it type yards but yards where you order the part and they pull it for you. it would really be no big deal if you needed the part delivered and I could pick it up at the recycler and not have to pay for it or get dirty LOL... and for the right price/person I'd even go to pick-n-pull and get dirty

I travel to Texas every once in a while to see my mom... if it worked out that I was going your way I'd gladly deliver what ever I could. I'd even be open to make special trips if I got paid for the effort. I'm not talking about making money off this, but pay for my fuel and feed me and I'm happy. I love meeting the people I talk to online in real life!!!

How about a regional "junk yard lookout" thread as well, either just listing pertinent cars (I know some folks already do this) but for regional folks looking for something specific? Another somewhat hairbrained idea but it might just work?

Personally, in the past I just posted here, or called friends in the area of a car I wanted checked out. It helped save me from lots of frankenstein cars. But, I also made it a condition for myself to pick up the tab on having the car inspected by a pro shop, if the friends didn't ax the idea on first sight!!!!

Where in Texas do you travel to? I see an east/west bound freight hauler coming into play.
