Double pulleys for 300TD, W123 alternator

Does anyone know a source for the double pulleys found on a W123 300TD? The nut came loose on my alternator allowing the pulley to shimmy and wear an irregular hole in the middle of the pulley. While I'm open to repair suggestions I'd like to find an actual replacement part.

MR. Gasket sells a double pulley but they list it as fitting GM and Ford engines and they have no dimensions on the part so it is impossible to know if it might fit without buying one.

If the iside of the Pulley is worn out or round there is no easy repair the would restore it to center.

I am trying to look up the Part Number.
In the mean time a local Starter/Alternator rebuild shop might be a source that would have one on hand.
NAPA maybe.
Is there a Bosch Number on it.

You don't want one from the Dealer; MSRP $160 selling Price $120.

Better off getting one from the Junk Yard or if one of our Members has one for you.

There was a thread about where to buy Starter Parts and it listed some places that sold Alternator and Starter parts.

You could "Ask Phill"

Someone said the Pulleys for the Metric Belts are cut at a different angle. So a Generic Pulley made for American Alternators might not far well.
There is still Junk Yards around that will pull the parts for your or you could simply get a whole used Alternator from them and use the Pulley or see if the used Alternator would work.

Since the new Alternator Pulleys I saw were $30 on up; an option would be to spend the money on an upgrade to the 80amp type Alternators from place like Eagle Electric and speak with them on the Phone or Email to be sure it comes with the correct Pulley.

I believe the 80 amp Alternator fits the Connector can be used without changing the Wires.
Besure to ask if it can use the original connector.

Got any PNP type JY in your area? think a complete alternator is around $35.

X2 on checking with an alternator/starter rebuild shop. let your fingers do the walking for you, yellow pages.

Where are you located? add it to you info.

I have a used alternator. Will be glad to sell it or the pully for a reasonable price.

If the new pulley route doesn't work, definitely upgrade to an AL129X high-output alternator. They're around $120 on fleabay

t walgamuth,
What would you want for the pulley? (double pulley right?) The alternator I have is new so I'd like to just go the pulley route.

are you sure your alternator isn't damaged? if it spun enough to wear out the pulley it could have easily damaged the alternator as well...

Hello, We have done three of the 80 amp alternator conversions on to our diesels. Got each of the 80 amp alternators from 1988 420 sel's. We had to remove the stock pulley and place the original 300td pulley on to the 80 amp because the 420sel came with just a single grooved pulley....also had to rewire each of the conversions because the stock wiring harness from the diesel cars had a three blade plug and the 80 amp alternators all had ring terminals. It was an easy fix to change the pulleys and we just cut the plugs off the wiring harness and crimped some ring terminals to hook up the correct corresponding wires. You would still need a pulley regardless of how you go. I have heard that you can get the 80 amp alternator with the three bladed plug so that would make it a bit more plug and play but I am not sure which cars came with that alternator....perhaps the 85 and older versions?

That is the one I was speaking of. One of the places that sells them on eBay is in Northridge, CA in the LA area.

This moring on eBay some one had a Used 1988 420 sel 80amp Alternator as a Buy-it-Now for $40 with free shipping.
Clamined it had been tested and OK.
Like you said it has a Single Belt Pulley.

You might contact some of the obvious MB salvage vendors on Ebay. The have tons of parts available that don't generate enough interest to be worth listing.
