Order of fuel injector lines on 1990 300D
So I took off the valve cover and pulled the injectors on my 1990 300 Turbo Diesel, but then when I put the injectors back in, I realized that I had no idea which way the lines went back on in between each of the injectors.
Since I put it all back together, I am getting less power and constant smoke out the exhaust which makes me think I'm not burning all the fuel because an injector line is backwards or something. Is this possible? Is there a right and a wrong way to putting the lines back on? If so, how to I know which goes where? I can post some pictures of it if they are needed to understand what I'm talking about. |

Sorry about the crummy quality.
What I think I did wrong was on the 3rd injector... On the other ones it goes in on the right and out on the left, but the third injector goes in on the left and out on the right. Would that cause problems? |

I think you are picturing the Injector Fuel Return Hoses. The little Nipples on the Injector #8 in the picture both go into the same Chamber and there is no direction except that the Fuel goes out of both of the Nipples. So as long as the very Last Injector has one Nipple Plugged and the First Injector is connected to the fuel Return line it does not matter how the other lines are connected as long as the Return Line goes from one Injector to the other. I also think that if you did get them wrong the Fuel Pressure would build up inside and pop the Hose off one of the Nipples.
