Working with W126 front seat track motors

I was able to pull a very nice passenger spring box, pad and motors from a '89 300SE today. It's super firm, so I'm excited to get the springs and pad into my driver's seat frame in the next couple of weeks. I had to pull the track and motors out together because I didn't have a battery to move the box along the track. So a couple of questions: Do I just place a jumper wire on the different pins to get the motors to slide the box in position for removal? Should I place a fuse in my jumper wire to keep from burning a motor out? Did the later model W126 seats use the same motors and wiring for the bottom part of the seat as the earlier versions? I'm guessing not because of the memory function, but it sure would make this job easier if they did. Thanks
