How much play is there in them? I'm wondering if a person could do a pilow block of aluminum and put brass sleeves in them...?

That pic with the plastic bearings seems to show that the pillow blocks I sent the link for could just be mounted with 1 foot and you'd be there, assuming you get the right ID. Depending on available space you might need to cut off the unneeded foot or if you have the space you could mount it using both feet. At $10/ea. I'd be inclined to give it a try. Should be plenty stout.

Pretty loose....about the same as the shift bushings on the transmission.

I ordered a couple of those fancy bearing pillow blocks today. With ball bearings the accelerator linkage should work like a charm!

Standing by with baited breath (I have to stop eating minnows!) to see how that works out. Seems like it should be groovy. Kids - it's really "bated".

I have set it up with a momentary kill switch which cuts off the fuel. Unfortunatley now I have trouble remembering to shut off the electrical with the key.
Anybody have a simple way to activate a buzzer if the motor is not running and the key is on? Seems like the painless wiring block would provide for it...?

Wire a buzzer in parallel with the charge warning light. It'll buzz while glowing but it'll also buzz if you lose the alternator belts.

Good idea except i just have an ammeter gauge, no idiot light. But perhaps a sender from the idiot light will run a buzzer if the engine dies...?

Here's a simple circuit (ignore the oil warning light) that should work with a MB spec alternator -
You'll need a sparky to spec the resistor, diode and buzzer. Sixto 83 300SD |
