Best of luck. I know for a fact that Mercedes wiring can be confusing!

Auburn in September

Today my brother and I went up to the big Auburn auction....well really it was the smallest one I have seen there in 30 years I bet. Last day is the smallest I think but the big field they use for parking which used to hold 30 double rows of parking today had 2.5 at most.

But there was plenty of action. Best two deals of the day were imho a three year old Mustang cobra jet for $32,000 with 182 miles on it, and a lovely 47 caddy sedan for 13K.

I went to look at the 37 Studebaker coupe express sell. It was a ten or fifteen year old restoration with no flaws that I observed in a medium grey metallic with a side mount. I told my brother that I betted the owner had a $70,000 reserve on it. When the bidding stalled at $56,000 the owner lifted the reserve (they said it was 70K) and it sold for 57,500 (IIRC).

Nice car.

Other Studebakers...I saw the black Scotsman wagon, nice, the 55 president speedster, nice too but I think was a no sale at 17K or so. I also saw the 39 champ, the blue GT hawk (looked nice).

Overall, I did not think the cars were selling as high as they have been selling in general.

It was a hot day. I drank about 8 water bottles, ate a foot long corn dog and a regular corn dog, had a mountain dew, and two small peanut butter sandwiches I took along.

Good day. Left this morning at 8 am and got back around seven.

I had always hoped that the old car hobby would some day again revert to a hobby interest only. Several times I think when the stock market looked shaky in times not that long ago. Money was speculated in the old car market.

Though as you have observed maybe not as much currently. . We have a couple of professional regional guys that transport their changing inventory to different major sales and play all kinds of games to get the prices up.

I have even wondered if certain auction houses encourage what they do and have some under the table arrangements if their cars are sold to their friends accidentally.

The market has not been logical in my opinion for many years anyways.

Although at the top of the market there is speculation, I think in the lower parts it is still dominated by hobbyists.

Although at the top of the market there is speculation, I think in the lower parts it is still dominated by hobbyists. One of the reasons for the growth of it since 2008 is the fact that all other avenues of investment have been soft or unsafe.

At present other investments may be looking better thus less car speculation.

Today I went to Anderson and collected my 39 Commander parts car. I managed to run over the battery I was using to run my electric winch and melted that down along with my jumper cables. The insulation on the cables made for an impressive fire!

I finally got it loaded though and home without it coming off the trailer.

They have the windshields in and the vent windows now. We looked at putting in generic electric windshield wipers too. We're gonna buy a chevy style ignition switch and headlight switch to go with the painless fuse panel.

I am making a deal right now to sell off the commander parts car I no longer need.

I wanted to attach pictures but could not get them to download for some reason.

I dug out the title for the commander and found that the title is the original one from 1/1/39 and was signed over by the original owner but never titled by the fellow I bought it from...nor myself.

Fun!
