What's up with this washer fluid reservoir on w126
This is on the w126 1981 300sd. I decided to fill both cars up. Filled up the 300sd about halfway, then went to the c280 and started filling it up when I start hearing water dripping onto the floor of the garage.
I go back to the 300sd and start looking at the washer fluid reservoir and in the back there is something with an electrical connection to it near the middle and on the left side of the reservoir, there is a hole where is looks like a similar connector should go, but it ain't there. What are the connectors? Do they measure the fluid or heat the washer fluid? If there are supposed to be two, I have no idea what happened to the other one...any clues? Anyway, like I said the connector on the left is missing and there is a hole where it once was and the fluid is coming out from there. I suppose I could just plug it? Thanks.

Same problem with my 126, some days it will hold the fluid indefinately, sometimes it will just dribble out, the things on the back of the container are the two pumps.

Check for the wires haning somewhere -- there is a level sensor and two pumps in the tank -- they all seal on rubber grommets. When the rubber gets tired, they leak.
You may want to buy all new grommets, then replace them next time the tank is empty. You can just plug the hole if you want. The pumps plug into holes in a ledge near the bottom of the tank. Peter

Extra Holes?
Saw your post and took a look through the 126 CD I've got. It appears the 81 originally had a heat exchanger heated by engine coolantto keep the washer fluid warm. If the heat excanger is gone that might be what the hole is for! Does your still have that feature? Your washer fluid hoses and nozzles are heated electrically also originally. It appears that you should have two pumps - windshield and headlights, and a level sensor on the tank.

I had the same exact problem, I went to the dealer bought 2 new rubber grommets and the problem was solved.
