Thanks for the Info!

But, it looks like there has been a price increase.

You are right about that. Both that ebay price and the Mercedes Sauce site have significantly higher prices than the last go-around.

I ended up buying Bosio nozzles from kermaTDI, they already arrived and are shiny. Now I am just waiting on the 32pt delivery valve socket then I can install new delivery valve seals/o-rings and re-do the injectors all at once on my 601...

I have had Bosio in my 300SD for 40k+ and the performance is awesome, and it sounds like a cummins semi when idling.

Have people experienced the advertised performance/economy improvement? Are they are worth the money?

I'm not trying to be a pimp or anything but if anyone needs a set of injectors rebuilt, PM me. The link in my signature explains in detail, with video, how to rebuild injectors but if you are not up to the task, I am willing to help. I have been thinking about collecting a few sets of cores and rebuilding them to sell as soon as new nozzles came on the market.

As far as needing new injector nozzles goes, most of the time it is not 100% necessary. If your car has 250K on it and the injectors are still original, it is nice to have them pop tested. Even marginal injectors can run well in the 61x series engines but a new, balanced, set of injectors can help smooth idle and increase performance a little.

Mercedes source is the exclusive supplier for sometime now. Can't get Monark nozzles anywhere else.

I watched your video while traveling .... and sitting in the airport forever.

I'm curious: did you ever find the source of that massive black plume of smoke?

thanks for the video ... you need a tripod so you can use two hands?!!

cheers

That depends. If you don't need new nozzles, they aren't worth the money. If you do, they are the cheapest alternative that I know of.

If you are referring to after I installed them and started the car, I believe that was caused by crap burning off after I cleaned out the prechamber seats. The injectors have settled in the last few thousand miles and there is no more smoking.

My girlfriend is a video editor, so we could make some really nice videos in the future.

I think the longevity of the original Stock Bosch Nozzles is based on if the OP did the Diesel Purges, kept Valve adjustments and once in a while did the IP Timing.

Normally after one hundred thousand miles the Injector Nozzles are on they way out.

Reusing them or not also is going to depend on how picky the Person doing the Pop Testing is. Way back in the 1970s when I did that sort of thing I rejected a lot of new Bosch Nozzles during the Pop/Nozzle Opening Test.

For sure if you bring the Injecto up to 200 psi below the Pop/opening pressure and it drips too much you need a new Nozzle.

I got two sets of injectors from two OM617s this weekend. I am going to pop test them all and see what I have. If one set pops well, I might offer it for sale as a good used set. If not, I will rebuild both sets and offer them for sale. I will post in the for sale section. I will be offering a kit of rebuilt injectors, heat shields, and return line/plug. I will charge a reasonable core charge so I can have cores for future rebuilds.

My concern with these non-factory-fitted nozzles is, it would appear a 'One Size Fits All' type of affair with them.

As in 'Fits all M.B. from 1968 to 1985.'

--IF thats the case, Why did M.B. fit different types....?

Nah, I'll only use the Proper, Correct Type Number Nozzle for something thats so critical!

The Monark nozzles I use are specifically listed to be used in the OM61x engines. The same nozzle can be used in some VW and Volvo injectors / vice versa.

I have had a set of Monarks in my car for the last 5000 miles and I have not had any trouble with them. I occasionally run WMO or WATF and I feel the lack of smoke I see is in part a result of the finer spray pattern these nozzles produce. Look at my videos and you will see that during pop testing, the diesel fuel is atomized so finely, it lingers in the jar like smoke.
