The injector heat shields should be replaced every time you remove and replace the injectors - these are a fit only once part.
If you don't fit new ones then the chances of a good seal is somewhat diminished...

... and she's running, started VERY easily with a tow start.
( yes, battery and start motor are fully functioning ) Current theory as to what the problem was is that there are some centrifugal weights in the injection pump that get stuck and will only free up with a tow start. ![]() Fingers crossed that she starts when cold tomorrow morning.

I will be interested to see how it behaves after it sits and cools down for 6-7 hours. Only about 326 times ......
...... before the tow we asserted that there was some unburnt diesel smoke coming out of the exhaust when trying to start it.
