On the news they were saying that US gas prices are up 8 cents a gallon in recent weeks. Also crude oil is around $35 a barrel, which is up there too.
I'm curious if the recent Northeastern US cold snap will increase diesel prices.

I haven't read all of this thread so I apologise if this point has been made before.

You guys are lucky. In the UK, diesel (and gas) is roughly 6.50 at todays exhchange rate. 90% of that is TAX.

Veg. oil here I come.

In Vancouver Washington, the price of diesel is still higher than gasoline but the price gap has been closing a little lately. Diesel is now about the price of mid-range unleaded gasoline.

Fuel prices

This is amazing, diesel fuel 6.50 a gallon, and 90 % tax. How much is heating fuel and what color is it? My first and second Mercedes saw a lot of #2 fuel oil for heating. I paid as little as .17 a gallon. Had a 275 gal tank of the stuff behind the house. (for heating of course) Now the heating fuel is red and all other fuels are clear, so we can't cheat anymore unless we want to risk a hefty fine.

Our cheapest local Exxon premium 93 octane (R+M/2) is now up to $1.699 here in Eastern PA.
It was $1.599 not very long ago.

You sound like my dad, he lives in Cruden Bay, and every time I call I tell him how he wont believe how expensive petrol is getting in Florida, over a quid a gallon Thats always good for a 20 minute rant about the English bastards stealing Scotlands oil. I feel your pain over the cost of living in Scotland and can tell you that unfortunately I think the smartest thing a Scot can do that wants a better future is leave. I left Fraserburgh 23 years ago and never looked back. But it is a bugger finding good mince and tatties in Florida

Ah, but as we both know the only consolation of being a Scot is having a good rant. Mince & tatties - there is also square sausage, The Sunday Post & Daily Record, the weather, the crap football, the new mega-expensive parliament and parasitic politicians..well maybe you're right...

Ouch.

Diesel $1.599

Gas $1.479

It hurts to look at the start of this thread. That was less than a year ago.

I think it points to an improving global economy, and a devalued dollar. You'll know its really about to hit the fan when OPEC starts pricing their crude in Euros and not Dollars.
