Yes, its road usable/taxed B100. Maybe they are just greedy. The place that sells it also has B2/B5/B20 pumps at their station too...and they're all always just a little bit more $$ than dino diesel....

I am glad I bought fuel yesterday thinking the price would probably go up soon!!! I paid $3.24 yesterday at this time....today it has SOARED to $3.49!!!!!! Appearantly the sky's the limit on these prices! RUG is $3.19 and up in most places too. Wshew. So I saved almost $3 just by filling up a little early out of precaution!

Actually, I was wondering if the $2/gallon stuff was taxed.

I've been thinking of buying an old heating oil tank and stocking up on diesel in the summer.

I wish more people understood this concept - this is exactly what the world market does when it sniffs oncoming higher prices. Everybody buys while it's cheap and starts a stampede, which is why it takes no time for prices to rise but we don't see them fall so quickly.

I saw the price of retail diesel shoot up right with the news of $100/barrel oil the past couple of days. It doesn't make me happy, but I know it isn't gouging.

Hmm, what about buying an old diesel tank and stock up on heating oil?

There's one station that still has it for $3.59 in Vancouver.

I am aware of the concept, however, I know most people are not, so why lose out on the cheaper fuel? Its going to go up whether or not I fill up. And its not like I went there to "top off" I did need over half a tank, and happened to be going past the station, which I won't be again for a while. (its out of the way, so I go to it when I happen to be going by)

I had a friend who's dad did this in the 1970's. He drove an old diesel Cadillac Eldorado and used to put heating oil in it, which was much cheaper and of course is illegal (he wasn't paying the road use tax). Then again, the risk of having a state trooper inspect his gas tank during a highway stop was (and probably still is) practically nil.

Yesterday I was in San Jose and saw $3.75 @ a Chevron station. $4 is not far off.

Hey there... I too live in LA and would love to know where that chevron station with the cheap diesel is.

Thanks!

I hope you don't seriously think you're going to find diesel for $1.33....
