How to Remove front door panel open ing lever trim Cover?

I want to replace the missing finger door latch pin on the front door of my 78 300D. How is the chrome trim cover removed from the door panel? I see no screws and the arm rest bar goes through it.

Thanks

It's been a while since I worked on a W123 but I think it's pretty much the same as a W115.

The finger latch has a black plastic insert. It is a snap in piece. Use a small pick or awl to remove it. There is a screw beneath the plastic. This might give you the access you need but if not then you need to remove the door card to remove the latch mechanism.

Should be two or three screws (might be hex heads) going through the arm rest. The front one is covered by the front chrome piece which snaps into place. The trim around the rear latch needs to removed, it's usually held on by 2 small screws. The push button for the lock unscrews. The lower and sides of the door card is held by either spring clips or plastic pins determined by whether some one has previously botched removal of the panel. They make a specialty tool to pop the retainers but you can use a spatula or thin flexible putty knife. Slide the blade between the door card and the metal frame until you find a retainer. Gently twist the knife and you will feel the clip release. If you're using the knife/spatula I find it best to work both sides of the retainer evenly to avoid tearing the card. Release the retainers and the entire panel will lift up.

I'm only trying to remove the small trim cover at the door latch lever. My terminology isn't clear but it's the little lever that you pull with your finger when you want to get out of the car. There are no screws and it must slide out somehow. I don't want to break it by pulling it the wrong way.

You posted before I could finish editing. My brain and fingers aren't coordinated yet.

Actually it is as Mike D said. The hole behind the Finger Lever is filled with a Thin Plastic Shield that you need to carefully pry out. When it is loose move the Finger Lever around to finish getting it out.

When that Plastic Shield is out pull the Finger lever out as if you were opening the Door and you will see a single Phillips Head Screw. Remove the Screw and that loosens the Trim.
After that ou need to manipulate/move the Finger Lever to find a spot where the Trim will come off.

I did not mention the color because I don't know if they are always the same color.
