Yes the clutch is different on each style compressor. I've never replaced or adjusted an R4 clutch like yours, but a little googling should get the information you need. Measure the air gap with a feeler gauge and if it is wider than spec, find out how to adjust it. Even if you have to replace the clutch, it would be a pittance of a job as opposed to a correct compressor replacement procedure.

Good advice. It appears that the expansion valve is attached right at the drier, and easily accessible in the fender compartment, so we will do both. Thank you. |

No, the expansion valve is in the glove box area inside. Don't touch it without a good set of tubing wrenches.

OK- got the compressor replaced, now vents DNW
I replaced the compressor, drier, and expansion valve, and had the system recharged. The center vents are now inop. This seems like a common prob others have also had, but I have not seen any suggestions on troubleshooting or fix.
What say you my wise Peach Parts friends? Thanks. Jeff |

I see that this post is almost a month old, so by now you have probably figured out that the vacuum line was knocked loose from the pod controlling the center vents when the expansion valve was replaced.
