Rear brake caliper replacement mistake, low, spongy pedal
This is a frequent SAFETY issue that comes to me.
******************************** One of the most COMMON mistakes when replacing the rear brake caliper is.... Putting them on the WRONG side, this places the caliper bleed screw on the BOTTOM, the most intensive bleeding will at best give a spongy (low) brake pedal... The caliper BLEED screw MUST be at the TOP !!! This is not neurosurgery or rocket science!!! If your eyes work, and you have ever watched BUBBLES rise in a glass of soda... The caliper BLEED screw MUST be at the TOP !!! Because of basic physics AIR rises in brake fluid. The caliper BLEED screw MUST be at the TOP !!! Discussion is FUTILE, the law of Physics already won... When in doubt, consult the FOUR rules... #1. The caliper BLEED screw MUST be at the TOP !!! #2. The caliper BLEED screw MUST be at the TOP !!! #3. The caliper BLEED screw MUST be at the TOP !!! #4. The caliper BLEED screw MUST be at the TOP !!! .

Good advice. Seen this issue on the front of a GM product once- As a labor saving move, they can be reverse bled but the better method is to put them one right in the first place.

haha - I have seen this once a long time ago at a neighbors house who was trying to bleed his upside down calipers . I was once stuck with my VW Golf once with a bad caliper on one side and the wrong side spare part only available and nothing to be found in the 500 mile radius in the middle of nowhere.
I removed and propped the caliper right side up, lodged a piece of wood to lock the piston - bled it with a coffee can and vinyl tube. Install the caliper back upside down after bleeding and completed my journey.

I'm a big fan of Jeep calipers - the hose and bleeder screws are interchangeable.
The right and left calipers are identical, you just install the bleeder where it needs to b=go based on the side
