Towing Question
Can the 300D be towed on it's rear wheels? Have AAA on the way to get me to the shop so I can have the driveline/mounts rebuilt today. Would do it myself, but simply don't have the time, so got the parts here, and sending it off. Just wanna make sure I won't need a new tranny if they tow me less than 2 miles.

I would think that 2 miles at relatively slow speed is not going to be an issue. As I recall from discussions on other forums the problem is lubrication as there is not a pump moving the fluid around.
I wish I had a definitive answer, but I really think you'll be fine. If you wanted to be 100% sure leave the engine idling during the tow.

With the engine off and the trans in neutral you're good for something like 20 miles, but you MUST KEEP THE TOW SPEED UNDER 30MPH.
Your w123's transmission has the fluid pump setup so that the driveshaft can turn the pump. This is why it's possible to tow start an auto w123. With the engine idling in neutral to keep the fluid flowing and cool, and all the parts lubricated you're good to tow as far as you have faith. I still wouldn't tow a running car very fast though.

Have them send a rollback. Do you think they will keep it under 25mph?

Thanks
Well, I had them jumpstart the car and I slowly drove it to the shop for them to install the new parts. The car will be driveable on Wednesday, including the oil and filter changes, not to mention the AC working. So, I'll have a car to use when home for my 4 days per month. I will keep the advice for future use . . . thanks again.
