I'm sorry, but for me the game starts at 400 bhp. That's what I consider 'plenty of power.'

But then again, this is my 25-28 mpg (with the A/C on) daily driver....

I also use the trick 105° Crew Cab orifice tube in this factory R-134a system. Summer vent temps range around 33°-34°F.

Comfortable, nimble, great brakes and phenomenal passing potential...

But that just me.....

There is really no need for enough power to do 175mph in the USA (sadly). So....the TDI does have "plenty" of power, since it will cruise at 90mph at around 2300rpm with ease getting 40+mpg...and plenty of acceleration is available.

My 240D got me around for three years including a trip to Atlanta and back, so I guess that could be called adequate, but I find being able to do the speed limit uphill a nice feature in my 300D. Anything more than that is just for fun really.

I almost bought a Bluetec, very nice driving diesel as compared to the older 617s.
But I ask, what will it be like 30 years from now?
I owned three newer MBs with all their electronic Nannies and still prefer my '85 300SD that looks and drives as new.
DPF on the new diesels, "black death" due to leaking injector seals on the 05-06 CDIs. Plus the W211 SBC braking system... no thanks. I prefer to wrench the valves every so often and roll in a new timing chain than deal with a CEL.

I am looking at Sprinters also, but I want a second generation with the 6 cyl. Why does DPF scare you? Not being a smarta** just trying to learn.

Unfortunately, a Mercedes-Benz diesel forum, isn't the fair place to bring stats on VWs. Especially when some of the MB diesel owners are armed with tons of data/facts blowing your VW out of the water.

X2 on the quick, but I don't know about the mileage. Daughter drives a 2012 model and the mileage is in the 20's, not the 40's like the newer diesels. Maybe she enjoys the quick too much?

I'm not sure what data/facts are blowing VW diesels out of the water?

Yeah, but the problem is you're still in a Mustang!

I'd rather drive a Pinto on fire than a Mustang.

I drove Mustangs for many years as a police officer. My fiorst was a 1990 SSP Interceptor with Woodlake PD in 1993. I liked it so much I bought a 1992.

My last was a 1999 I got brand new from the PD in 2000. I spent 10 years driving it and taught pursuit driving in it. I like the seating position, visibility, handling and braking of the SN 95 (1999-2004) cars.

I can out-turn much more powerful cars and destroyed my former bosses M5 through the corners.

They are a excellent car.

Have you driven the new Mustang Coyote 5.0 with VVT????

The power is unreal!!!!!

It pulls as hard as my Supercharged 4.6 litre!!!!!

P.S. Wife will be getting the gas supercharged Audi Q7...

Oh thanks the stars....I wasn't the only person thinking that.....a ford is a ford, no matter how many horses are on it....

Two questions.

1) Why are you hating on diesels on a diesel forum?
2) If gassers are so great, why do you still own a diesel?

Diesels are a different type of motor and shouldn't be characterized in gasser terms, just like hybrids shouldn't be purely compared to EVs. If you want to pick a certain task, each type of motor is better suited for one thing or another, so pick the one that fits the best for what you want.

It has been a while since I have been around the forum, but remember you stirring up the pot back then too. The OP made a great purchase, is excited about it (as he should be), and you are the one flaming.

OMG..

Fact....Technology advances as time moves on. Costs to fix certain things on certain vehicles that are contemporary become less prohibitive in the future. This is an inevitability.

Congratulations on your diesel, man! It's a beautiful machine!
