Sender Questions OM602
You are looking at MB part number 0075425717; it's on the left side of the IM of my 91 300D. The EPC simply calls it SENDER UNIT, CHARGE AIR DISTRIBUTOR LINE. One parts supplier calls it Turbo Boost Pressure Sensor to Pre-Glow System.
What does that mean? What exactly does it do? And why do I have it on my 91 300D but not my 92 300D? The one on my 91 was really clogged up....so I cleaned it out. Just trying to learn more about my cars....thanks.

This is a switch for overload protection (S66) of the engine. From MY1990 up to end of MY1991.
A pressure switch (S66) is fitted in the charge air pipe for overload protection of mechanical parts of the engine. If the charge pressure rises above 1.1 (+/- 0,15) bar gauge pressure, air is admitted to the ALDA unit through the switchover valve (Y30) and the quantity of fuel is limited to that of a naturally aspirated engine.
