The paint job will be as good as your prep at these types of places. I prestrip the entire car and take it to them basically ready to tape and paint. Then I put it all back together myself. That step cost most than the actual painting does.

Keeping same color, the price would have been about 400.
Rover the 87 looks like a new car. I admire the 94 front end. Since I'll never sell my 92 2.5, I'm doing a color change to smoke silver and putting in my burgundy interior I saved from a gasser I cut up for parts a couples of years ago. I talked to someone who can do it for about $900,00. Just a mid-range job nothing fancy. I'll do all my prep work and stripping, I guess that seems like a good deal? I payed for a top end job on my 87 300E in 1998 and spent $1000 and it's held up damn near 16 years later even after I sold it to a new owner. Cleat coat and all.

If the difference between midrange and top end 15 years later is $100, what does a top end job cost now?

Depends. I'm just getting a good deal because I went to tech school with the guy years ago and I've been friends with him since. I'm just happy it's not Maaco either.

First Night back out on the town

Very happy with the quality of job done, I hope i'm still saying that 5-10 years from now
I expressed my fear of the paint turning to S#it in the future and I was told its all in the prep. I was told my car would get the best possible. we'll see.
