Buy, rent, borrow basket tool for removing 606 Injection Pump

Anyone have a 606.910 injection pump centering sleeve they are willing to part with, rent or let me borrow?
Has anyone done this job without using the basket that is willing to share how they did the job?

Winmut, That is not what the post said it said buy, rent, borrow centering basket to remove 606.910 injection pump. I need to work on the pump. I have no problem with a deposit what do you think the list price is? How do I know I'll get my deposit back. My experience is that someone that is distrustful as you, obviously you are, cannot be trusted themselves. We are not getting off on the right foot starting off with "Whyfor" and casting dispersions on someone just needing help. Hope you agree!

Lets Make it clear I am not stupid enough to deposit list price for a used centering sleeve especially after your comments. I'll deposit what I think is the price of a used basket.

You don't need the basket.

x2. I've done this a couple of times without the basket. I hope these aren't famous last words but follow the FSM except where it says to use the basket.

Somehow I missed the centering sleeve. Was wondering if your pump was being sent off for tuning.

Not requiring a deposit for a listed price is certainly a good way to have someone else not care about returning it or taking good care of it. I certainly wouldn't loan tools to strangers from far away over the internet. I don't agree with your statement, it would be folly to trust the internet. I do let friends borrow tools, even if meeting new friends is part of the tool loan. But again in person, not on the internet. Based on your comments, it would seem you have never been screwed over, so perhaps your beliefs are based on naivete and not real world experience.

If you are concerned with my deposit policy, I will be happy to sell you one of these for half off list price.

It is interesting how the price jumped from $170 last time I looked to $370 now. I have quite a number of them stock piled, this might turn out better than bitcoin!

The list price for the centering sleeve depends on where you look $252 to $527. I did not say I would not pay a deposit I said I would deposit the cost of a used centering sleeve. Why would I deposit the price of a new one? You are loaning a used sleeve which I can buy for much less than a new one. I doesn't matter I am going to do the job without a basket. Good luck with selling the stock pile you have I think you might have to change you approach. Seems to me you want to sell the used centering for the price of a new one. If I am wrong I apologize but my experience is that someone as distrusting as you is that way because they themselves are not trustworthy.

I gotta agree with winmutt on this. If I am going to send a tool off, to someone I don't know, and charge little or nothing for doing it, I want to make sure that I get it back. A deposit equal to the tool's replacement value, and trouble, is reasonable. The renter is going to pay the postage both ways and maybe a small amount for my trouble of packing it up and taking it to the post office. The deposit the renter leaves with me, they will get back as soon as the tool is returned. The renter gets to use a $100 tool for $12 postage and maybe $10 more. They deposit $100 that they get back. It costs them $22 instead of $100. Even if the deposit is $125, it is still a good deal for the renter because you get the $125 back if you return the tool. If their offer is not agreeable with you, then a simple "thanks, but no thanks" would do, and look for a better deal.

Greg I agree with you! Please reread winmutt's posts he wants deposit to be price of a new centering sleeve $500 for a used centering sleeve worth $100 he wants $250. He questioned my intelligence and integrity in #3. If I give him $500 what is his incentive to return my deposit he has made $400. I told him I would deposit the price of a used one that's fair to me. I would not now even consider borrowing it and I was willing to rent it. If you are with winmutt fine. I do not agree, I am neither stupid nor dishonest. I am not going to use a centering sleeve so it's a moot point. I just do not agree with starting a post the way he did it is rude and insensitive. I do agree about the internet. I made a counter offer which was fair and close to what you suggested. Again please read the post. I have a question what is your stake in this?

At no point did I question your intelligence or integrity, I questioned your experience.
You've also assumed that it was used, when in fact the one I have nib. I have rented tools many time without incident or some noob questioning the way tool rental programs work throughout the world.

In fact your repeated attempts to color me as untrustful because of my need of a deposit is the real affront here.

I generally trust people, that a tool would be returned. What becomes a pickle is trusting that people will replace a tool when they break it if they did not charge a deposit. I had a friend who lent out a spring compressor without a deposit, the guy broke it and then never replaced it. My "experience" says that while most people can be trusted, people who can't cover a deposit also can't pay to have the tool replaced.

You can't abide by a tool renters condition, then don't rent from them.

I too have one of these baskets but since it's so valuable it's not leaving my tool box

I just got done with the IP swap.

Basket not necessary. Locking tool is. For what MBZ is asking for the basket, you could pay a stripper to hold the gear in place, and feed you grapes while you worked on it for an hour.

Much more fun than a basket.

For that kind of money you can get a stripper AND pull an NPH.
