Lift Pump Service: $99 + shipping

I am gauging whether or not there is any interest in a lift pump rebuild service.

Here's a thread on the topic. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/333744-sleeper-part-deux-23.html

I was thinking of an exchange process. That is, the lift pump for the MW IP for $38.00 plus shipping. I would ship a rebuilt lift pump with a core deposit. Once I got the buyer's lift pump back, I would refund the core fee. The pump would be rebuilt using a MB kit plus a new viton seal "O" ring and would include the gasket for the lift pump to IP. It would be complete and ready to go less the primer pump. The customer could either screw back on their old one or get the black Bosch unit (newer style).

Let me know if anyone is interested. I am going to be running my current lift pump through a cleaning process known to work on diesel fuel injectors and I am going to find the few lift pumps in my garage and run them through the process as well. If I can streamline the process, and there's interest, I will start offering this service.

Had you been offering this when I did my lift pump, I'd have jumped on it.

Between buying the kit, paying for shipping for the kit, buying the 30mm or whatever socket it was, having you do it would have been less expensive, too.

This just dawned on me while waiting forever at the airport. I just did mine after strolling through a lot of threads all over the different MB forums. I see how a bunch of folks are looking into this, et cet.

I have all the tools and the cleaning process down pat. Plus, I just made a jig which will hold the lift pump in place while I take it apart. I am figuring $38 plus shipping is not a killer price plus whatever it costs to ship me the core back.

I just swapped in a good used one, but I'd definitely be down for it at some point since it made such a big difference. Plus I have the old one still, so it could be done at any time.

Update:

Bosch Kit + NEW primer pump, $99.00 shipped CONUS. I will need your lift pump "up-front" or take a core deposit.

I will post some pictures over the weekend.

I currently have in hand 7 Bosch Rebuild Kits, DGK-301 and NEW primer pumps. The pump will look and perform like new.

I don't know yet, but I am sure most older MB parts can be rebuilt. This is for the OM616 and OM617 lift pumps, with the 3 dogears.

The "M" pump has 2 dogears, which will be priced differently because of the different parts.

I would probably have you build seven over the next two years but you can't live on that.

(showing my ignorance of the Bosch injection system) How do I know if mine needs done? Mutt starts and runs well but I run out of power at about 100 MPH - is this a possible lift pump issue? Wondering if the lift pump can't keep up with the Monarch 315s thru the IP.

Also, I'm getting a Dieselmeken pump in a few weeks. Will it come with a fresh lift pump or should I order one from you just to be on the safe side? Probably ought to send Goren an Email on that......

Dan

Here are the super late snappies. I only use Bosch rebuilt kits (there are a number of "aftermarket" kits, but I figured I would stick to Bosch). Also, I am using the heavy duty Monark pumps. These are a totally different ballgame than the smaller Black "more modern" style. If you price compare the individual part elements shipped, e.g., primer pump, Bosch kits, plus shipping to you and less PP fees, the $99 price point is the best I can do in the hobbyist realm. I think these pumps are selling around $160-ish or so through the various mainstream vendors, but they do not include the Monark Primer Pump.

Your choice of bare metal and you paint or I can paint a glossy black. I am looking into the powder coating kit from Eastwood. Maybe Santa will bring one ... lol

Right now, I can do 6, so first pay first get.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the delays.

Once I figure out my supply issues, I will be offering the ALL GERMAN FUEL KIT, which will consist of:

1. Rebuilt Fuel Injectors (same service & GERMAN nozzles as I have been doing for the last 5 years) with new HeatShields and 1 meter of braided return line;

2. Performance OFV Valve

3. Lift Pump

From my Notes.
New Style fuel Supply lift pump rebuild
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=288883
Newer Fuel Pressure Relief/Over Flow Valve with plastic part inside
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/274950-fuel-supply-ip-problem-w-124-a.html

Also there is another rebuild thread somewhere.

Hunter posted a list of the Kits for the different Fuel Supply/Lift pumps but I cannot find them in my notes. I don't know if Pelican sells them or not but it might be worth checking.
Likely eBay has the kits but you need to know the kit number.
