L.O.L. John, what would we do without you? Thank you so very much for the reply!

Tram found a slight roof buckle, so most likely will stick with the plan and do a driveline swap to the '79. That is why I was asking about the engine, but guess I wasn't putting enough as normally don't get replies.

Thank you so very much!

I missed the spark plug wires: been so long since I have seen any, so what is wrong?

I was wondering about that noise! Bad lifters?

The proper wires are of a length that 'fits' the motor ... not out there flapping in the breeze.

Hard to say about the noise. Maybe a 5 wt only oil change ?

Bob, thank you so very much for the help!

As much as I like the wagen, think I am going to let it go, especially since he has made promises that have not come through (like getting a video of driving done today). He has it at $999, so I will do this by offering $500. Might be rude, but never know!

Not too far from me. Thought about picking it up myself and swapping it into my wagon and selling the 85 OM617 drivetrain out of it.

Still can't bring myself to part with my wagon... Even though the E300D is such a sweet ride.

Why would you swap engines, when there be real no need?

If you can afford it, why sell the wagon? Having a wagon is almost like having a truck, and having a wagon with a trailer hitch is basically like a truck. B.T.D.T.

If you do end up swapping out the drivetrain, the '79 is interested in upgrading to a turbocharged engine.

Well, the 5spd from the 230 will not mate to an OM617 with a $$$ adapter plate made for it. Not within my time, budget or skill boundaries at the moment.

While the 617 is a beautiful engine, I'm not married to it. If I got a 5spd wagon quickly and easily, I'd do it. The downside is I have no space for a project, unless I sold the 240D at the farm and sent my 85 and this donor wagon to the farm to work on...

Lots of moving parts and it's a very busy time of year for me...

Guess that takes care of that Andrew!

Well, still no video in motion. I did get a letter asking if I had seen the first and let him know I did and was out of the hospital and recovering. However nothing for the last two days. So, guess he is one of those that sells and doesn't take down the advert. Better for me, as got enough to do, including fighting C. Diff..

Hmm... is SLS pump functional with the reservoir bashed like that?

Pardon the air cleaner -

Maybe this will sell for a reasonable price - http://www.ebay.com/itm/201284413373 . How many 123s in the US have heated front seats??

The thing to be watchful for on an early M102 is the single timing chain. If the valve train is noisy then this is the first thing that needs to be checked. These Simplex buggers are known to snap.

Checking the hydraulic lifters is the next step. Nice easy process - just push down on them and see how fast they drop.

Sixto, thank you so very much for the reply!

Where did you get that photograph? The advertisement shows it having the stock air cleaner.

Remember, this has been in an accident, and I was planning on getting it mostly for the drive line, thus why I was asking about that; hope that's clear.

Man oh man if I was rich! That looks like a deal so far, and make a good spare vehicle. Really hard just having one, especially since I still have to do major work.

Stretch, thank you so very much!

Yes, I found that in my research I did before really considering purchase. However, all this is moot since it is sold.
